The Origins of
Ah-Beetz
The Origins Of Ah-Beetz
Humble Beginnings...
Ah-Beetz was born in the pizza capital of the U.S.A., New Haven, Connecticut. Our founder, Nicholas Laudano, had a vision to share the iconic flavors of New Haven pizza with the rest of the country.
Nick has been making pizza since his childhood, growing up in New Haven – a city rich with pizza culture and passionate pizza lovers. Realizing that people outside of New Haven were craving the authentic taste of great pizza, Nick created Ah-Beetz. Using his family’s recipe, he brought the true taste of New Haven pizza to South Florida, along with the region’s vibrant culture and dedication to using only the finest, authentic ingredients.
But what really sets Ah-Beetz apart from the rest is our incredible team. From pizza makers to servers, from location developers to our CFO, every member of the Ah-Beetz family is committed to excellence. It’s a community you’ll be proud to join and be a part of!

New Haven Roots
The History of Apizza
New Haven pizza, locally known as Apizza, is a style of Neapolitan pizza that is common in and around New Haven, Connecticut. What sets New Haven style apart from other styles is its thin crust. Brick oven cooking makes the crust very crispy and chewy throughout. New Haven-style pizzerias always make sure that they use a balance of sauce, cheese and toppings.
Use of the term, “apizza” (pronounced AH-BEETZ) is mostly confined to the Italian-American enclaves of Southern Connecticut, and derives from the Neapolitan Dialect. The dish is more widely known throughout the region simply as “New Haven-style pizza.” Our high temperature aged brick ovens bake at an excess of 780°. This creates a darker crust, which we call “char.”
